With a CV that includes customising guitars played by Ed Sheeran on two world tours, the first contemporary art collaboration with members of the British royal family and an impressive client and supporter base including FIAT heir Lapo Elkann, Ferrari's Director of Design Flavio Manzoni and fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger, artist Teddy M is successfully introducing his work independently and at the highest level...
From the beginning, Teddy M's work has carried a central theme of positive energy, ambition, light and unity. After spending many years as a painter, the artist is now exploring new mediums focusing on his interest in form and texture, objects and design.
In 2016, GQ magazine described Teddy M as 'The Artist to Watch' and his work can be found in significant private art collections alongside original works by KAWS, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Frank Stella.
The artist has undertaken commercial commissions for Dick Lovett Ferrari, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars London and Sigg Switzerland AG and his work has been shown at Masterpiece London and independently in LA, New York and London.
On television, Teddy M has appeared on Sky News as a guest commentator speaking about his 'Royal Love' painting during the live broadcast of the Royal Wedding of Princess Eugenie from Windsor Castle. He has also appeared as a Sky News studio guest providing general commentary on contemporary art.
In 2018, contemporary art expert Andrew Acquier FRICS independently assessed and valued early works by Teddy M noting the artist is self-represented and has, "established a primary market for his work" and "risen to some prominence over the past five years".
So far, Teddy M has raised over £20,000 for causes related to the well-being of children via sales of donated artworks.
In 2020, Teddy M will be one of ten artists invited to exhibit a piece of work in a museum as part of a special private view in aid of a children's charity.
IN HIS OWN WORDS
I have been self-represented from the beginning and show with galleries and in collaboration with others by invitation.
While my primary practice has been painting with acrylics and sometimes an iPad, I am now exploring new mediums focusing on my interest in architecture, objects and texture. At all times in my creative process, my immersion in music remains a constant factor.
I began my career painting female forms and iconography including stars, lightning bolts and skulls. Each work has a message of positivity and wellbeing which crosses over into my more abstract works. I also create landscape works inspired by warm blue skies and seas and my natural rural surroundings in the English countryside and I would say my direct and ambitious approach in life is portrayed throughout my work.
Art and music (I've played guitar in several bands) - has been fundamental in my life since childhood.
I was born in the year of the Tiger.
